Annual Airfield Maintenance 

Work included: 

Saw cut, remove & dispose of moribund sealant, clean, prime, pack with somic chord & replace with a new high-performance machine grade sealant. 
Clean, then heat concrete surfaces, lay resin & cast Quartz grit in-accordance with the Addagrip 1000 resin-surface system. 
Scabble & carry out high strength two-part epoxide repairs to damaged edges of concrete slabs and into surface pop-outs. 
Over-band & seal bifurcated cracks in asphalt, with hot bitumen. 
Hydro-blast poor quality airfield markings, then reinstate markings with two-coat epoxide paint, using a self-propelled mobile spraying unit & including calcined flint aggregate. 
Over-band & seal cracks in asphalt with hot bitumen. 
Plane out 40mm depth of defective asphalt, sweep clean, apply bond coat & machine lay 40mm thick of SMA10 PMB 55PSV. 
Set out & lay airfield markings in epoxide paint.

Innovation: 

A key innovation within the project was the implementation of a targeted airfield pavement preservation strategy, combining specialist crack sealing, high-performance resin surfacing, epoxide concrete repairs, and precision asphalt rehabilitation to extend pavement service life while minimising the requirement for full-depth reconstruction.
