Lakeside Habitat Improvements
Work included:
Employ an Ecologist to undertake an initial Habitat & Arboriculture survey to the proposed work areas.
Soft Landscaping Design of 4no. new habitat areas in accordance with the client brief and Ecology Report.
Isolate and remove all lighting fixtures within the decking areas, reposition and re-install in a new location as required.
Remove and dispose existing timber decking including all existing fixtures and supports. Install temporary pedestrian protection to the edge of the lake for the duration of the works.
Lay geotextile membrane to cleared areas and raise platform above water level by importing & levelling a 300mm thick layer of clean, single sized stone.
Import & lay Caledonian cobbles 80 – 120mm thick and Import & place various sized (500 – 1200mm) inert and water suitable glacial boulders.
Provide and install additional native planting to complement the existing vegetation.
Install new twin guardrail, galvanised & powder coated to the edge of the lake.

Innovation:
Purchase of a box trailer and convert into a SHEF unit. The purpose was to utilise a mobile vehicle, fitted with all the required SHEF equipment, to aid working around various areas of a lake environment.
