
US Airfield Taxiway Repairs
Work included:
Saw cut & remove moribund joint sealant to concrete bays & around ironwork furniture. Prepare and reinstate joints with somic chord and a new high-performance sealant.
Saw cut, scabble out, prepare and reinstate a large quantity of high-strength two-part epoxide concrete mortar repairs.
Bitumen over-banding to bifurcated cracks in the asphalt section of the taxiway.
Plane out recessed joints between the asphalt & concrete surfaces & install new high performance flexible joints.Plane out 50mm depth of defective asphalt, clean, prepare and reinstate with machine laid Airfield Grade surface course material.
Reinstate affected airfield markings with epoxide paint.
Machine lay a bitumen rejuvenator spray to the adjacent filter drains & bond the single sized aggregate.
All remedial work undertaken in-accordance with MOD Publications & Standards, including Series RA3500, Specification 49 & Defence Works Functional Standards 06.

Innovation:
Purchase and employ a ‘Siltbuster’ to treat wastewater. The unit has been designed to separate the aggregate & concrete paste from the water used in saw cutting, during sealant removal. The Wastewater is collected by a road sweeper is tipped into the silt buster & treated. With a low-level reception hopper easily accessible from 3 different sides. Separating the particles and filtering the water, for re-use in the floor saws for dust suppression.
